The past two days have been nothing short of dramatic. On Monday, we marked the five-year anniversary of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X with a tournament to determine the top exclusive title of this hardware cycle. We presented eight PS5 games and eight Xbox Series X exclusives to compete against each other, culminating in a championship round where the top game from each platform would go head-to-head. There have been some incredibly close calls in the initial matchups, especially the extremely tight polls from the previous day. Now, it's moment to decide the leading PlayStation and Xbox titles before Thursday’s final battle.

The PS5 Side

For PlayStation 5, we have the giant-slayer, Astro Bot. Maybe it should be no surprise considering that it won top honors at the previous year's gaming accolades, but its win against God of War Ragnarök seems like a major shock. However, to reach the championship, it'll have to go through the MVP of the PS5 generation: Insomniac Games. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 enjoyed an easy journey to the final four, leaping past Ghost of Yōtei and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (another title from the same studio!) to secure a spot in the semi-finals. Will Spider-Man defeat a home-grown Sony mascot, or is he destined to become a chibi cameo in the next Astro Bot game?

Xbox Series X Contenders

The Xbox Series X side has been even juicier. Coming out on top from a more eclectic field of competitors is Forza Horizon 5. It's a big victory for the racing adventure title so far, demonstrating that a more specialized genre game earns to be on the equal footing as traditional jump-and-run games and cinematic action-adventure games. Its final obstacle en route to the championship is a big one, though. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has proven to be a fan favorite, beating critical darlings like Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush. Can it beat a larger-scale title from an well-known franchise that's closely tied to Xbox itself? Should anyone manage this feat, it's likely Indiana Jones.
